Rome Braves: Braves down Tourists in series opener at SMS

The turning point: The Braves piled the runs on quick and early during Thursday?s win against the Tourists. They opened the game with one run in the first then added five runs in the second inning to build a big lead early, and held on fromt there to improve their home record to 5-2.

Who did what for Rome: Felix Marte was the only Braves player with multiple hits. He went 3-for-4 with a run scored, a triple and two RBIs. Jose Peraza and Levi Hyams each scored a run and each had one RBI. Josh Elander also had an RBI, Blake Brown scored two runs and had an RBI, and Tyler Tewell and Tony Mueller each scored one run.

On the mound: Rome starter Patrick Scoggin (1-1) earned his first win of the season.

He threw five innings, gave up four earned runs and struck out one. Greg Ross and Carolos Perez combined on four innings of one-run relief.

Game notes: The Tourists finished just 2-for-17 with runners in scoring position and left 11 runners on base.
