Square-Enix launch new free-to-play online gaming service

Square-Enix have launched CoreOnline, a new free-to-play gaming service that looks set to feature some of their biggest titles.

The service is currently at beta stage and features HD browser versions of Mini Ninjas and Hitman: Blood Money, with Tomb Raider: Underworld, Lara Croft: Guardian of Light and Gyromancer all set to follow in the coming months.

In-game time is earned by watching a series of related YouTube ads, although you can ?unlock? whole titles or individual levels for a small amount of US Dollars ? which is also known as ?buying stuff?, Square-Enix?and negates the whole free-to-play situation ? but it will be interesting to see how the service develops.

About Jeff Barker

Jeff has been with the Xboxer360 team since April 2009. He is well known for his love of sandals and frequently exhibits Rainman-like behaviour, which is even more amazing now he's a Dad. He prefers third person action/adventure titles and RPG's, but will happily turn his hand to pretty much anything.
